    What kind of wallpaper do you offer?

    At Portray, all of our prints come in two types of wallpaper — traditional and self-adhesive — so you can choose the installation method that’s right for you.

    What is “traditional” wallpaper?

    When we say “traditional wallpaper” we’re referring to the installation method most people are used to. This type of wallcovering requires a paste to adhere it to your wall.

    What is self-adhesive wallpaper?

    Self-adhesive wallpaper eliminates the need for wallpaper paste. Like a sticker, it has an adhesive backing built right in. When you’re ready to install it, simply remove the protective film to expose the adhesive surface and apply it directly to your walls.

    Which is better — self-adhesive or traditional wallpaper?

    It all comes down to your goals.

    Traditionally-applied wallpaper tends to perform better over time in high-humidity areas like bathrooms. So if you’re looking for a long-lasting solution in the primary bathroom, traditional might be the right choice. 

    That being said, our self-adhesive wallcoverings are thicker than industry standard and a great option for most spaces. Self-adhesive wallpaper is an optimal choice for renters and people who like to update their spaces often. It’s typically faster to hang and easier to remove than traditional wallpaper.

    We offer both types of wallpaper for all of our prints, so you can choose the best option for you and your goals.

    Is your wallpaper durable?

    Yes! In fact, our self-adhesive wallpaper is certified “Type II” meaning it’s durable enough for commercial spaces like hotels and restaurants.

    Our Portray wallpapers are thicker than most self-adhesive wallcoverings, so they hide imperfections in your walls and achieve a more polished look. We believe home is meant to be lived in, so we’ve designed quality products to endure real life.

    Is your wallpaper eco-friendly?

    It is! All of our products are GreenGuard certified. This means they’ve been thoroughly tested and proven to give off minimal VOCs to keep your indoor air cleaner and healthier for the whole family.

    We also print every wallpaper to order here in the U.S., allowing us to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.

    How should I clean my wallpaper?

    We get it — life can be messy! When it’s time for a cleanup, simply wipe your walls with a damp cloth or sponge.

    Install

    What tools do I need to hang wallpaper?

    For self-adhesive wallpaper, you’ll need a craft knife, level, a plastic smoothing tool or squeegee, and a ladder.

    For traditional wallpaper, you’ll need the above materials, plus wallpaper paste and a roller to apply it.

    Can I apply self-adhesive wallpaper anywhere?

    Self-adhesive wallpaper can transform your home in many ways. Use it on walls, ceilings, furnishings, stair risers — the sky’s the limit!

    For best results, we recommend clean, smooth surfaces. Textured walls, heavily grained woods, and popcorn ceilings aren’t a good fit for wallpaper.

    Can I get a sample before I order?

    Absolutely! We’re happy to send samples so you can feel the product and see it in your space. 

    Our samples are larger than industry standard — 25.5” W x 10” H— giving you a great sense of color and scale in your space. And, because our printing process ensures perfect color match every time, you know your sample is the exact product you’ll get when you place your order.

    How much wallpaper do I need?

    We’ve taken all the guesswork out of ordering your wallpaper. Simply enter your room’s dimensions into the Footage Calculator for each wall you want to paper. We’ll do the math and send the right amount to your door.

    How do I place an order?

    Once you’ve selected your wallpaper, enter your room’s dimensions into the Footage Calculator. Then, click “Add to Cart” and complete your checkout process. We’ll take care of the rest!

    Shipping

    How long does it take to get my wallpaper?

    Your wallpaper is custom printed and shipped within 3 days of your order placement! You’ll get an email notification once it ships.

    Can I track my order?

    Absolutely! Your shipping confirmation email includes a tracking number so you’ll know when to expect your order.

    Returns

    What is your return policy?

    Because each order is custom-printed just for you, we don’t accept returns.
